POSITION DESCRIPTIONS, ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Scoutmaster
· Act as Coach Counselor to the Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) and Assistant Senior Patrol
Leaders (ASPL).
· Maintaining safety and discipline in camp.
· Leadership by example.

Assistant Scoutmasters and Troop Committee Members
· Act as Coach Counselors to their assigned patrols
· Ensure that all scouts participate in program activities
· Maintain a “safe haven” for all scouts, free from hazing
· Other duties as assigned by the Campmaster
· Leadership by example


Campmaster
· Logistics and planning
· Attendance sign-up (scouts and adults)
· Coordinate with boy leaders to support the program activity (SPL, ASPL, Quartermasters,
Chaplain Aides).
· Assign other adult responsibilities
- Transportation
- Quartermaster (Special equipment and food for the “Adult Patrol”)
- Program
- Chaplain
· Leadership by example

Campout Job Descriptions

Campmaster
- Paperwork (tour permits, reservations, waivers, etc)
- Logistics planning
- Attendance sign-up (scouts and adults - complete roster is very important)
- Coordinate with the treasurer for collection of fees
- Help boy leaders to plan and support the program activity (SPL, ASPL, Quartermasters,
Chaplains Aides).
- Recruit/Coordinate other adult responsibilities (Transportation, Quartermaster, Program
Leader(s), Chaplain, and Medical)

Transportation Manager
- Develops a “seat-belt” count
- Makes sure that there is adequate transportation (both directions)
- Provides maps to drivers, if necessary.

Quartermaster
- Plans menu for adults and purchases food
- Develops the adult duty roster
- Works with the troop’s Quartermasters to ensure that the troop equipment is in order (check
propane tanks, paper supplies, etc.) and properly loaded.
- Works with patrol Quartermasters to ensure all patrol equipment is in order (chuck boxes)
- Obtains necessary equipment to support a special program (e.g. rappelling, watersports,
orienteering, pioneering, etc).
- Fills ice chests with ice prior to departure

Program Leader
- Makes sure that the troop meetings prior to the overnight will support the planned
activities (e.g. rappelling, watersports, orienteering, pioneering, etc.)
- Helps boys lead program activities (teaches the boys to lead)
- Coordinates support from other adults
- Works with the Quartermasters to ensure that the troop has the right equipment in order to run  the program

Medical
- Keeps and issues “significant” medication for scouts (parental discretion)
- Deals with minor injuries (cuts, burns and scrapes)
- Controls use of troop first aid kit

Chaplain
- Works with Chaplain Aides to plan the worship service
- Ensures that a proper worship service is conducted
- Supports “safe-haven” atmosphere at all times
- Encourages all patrols to say grace at meals
